5 INTRODUCED FOR THE FIRST TIME

Information about the changes to this standard is published in the annually issued reference index «National standards», and the text changes and amendments — in monthly indexes published information «National standards». In case of revision (replacement) or cancellation of this standard a notification will be published in a monthly information index «National standards». Introduction

International standard ISO 4063 developed by technical Committee ISO/TC 44 «welding and allied processes», Subcommittee SC 7, «Terms and definitions».

The fourth edition of ISO 4063:2009 cancels and replaces the third edition (ISO 4063:1998), which has been technically revised.

As a result of the revision of ISO 4063:2009 an updated list of welding processes, removed unnecessary and obsolete symbols of processes which have been included in ISO 4063:1998. However, for user convenience, a legacy, a legend preserved in Appendix A of this standard. In the application In the standard notation for welding and related processes.

You should pay attention to the fact that some of the elements of ISO 4063:2009 can be the subject of patent ownership rights.

Requests for official interpretations of any aspect of ISO 4063:2009 should be addressed to the Secretariat of ISO/TC 44/SC 7 technical Committee for standardization TC 364 «welding and allied processes» of the Federal Agency for technical regulation and Metrology.

1 Scope

This standard contains a list of welding and allied processes, with each process identified by conventional digital marking (hereinafter — the symbol).

The symbol for any process contains no more than three digits, which includes: major groups — one figure, group — two digits and sub-groups — three digits. This system is set up to facilitate the process of computerization, development of drawings and working documents, preparation of routings, welding processes, etc. (see section 3).

Note — the standard lists the standardized foreign-language equivalents of terms in English (language code en).

2 Marking process

2.1 General situation

Full marking of the welding process must have the following structure: the number of this standard (GOST R ISO 4063), separated by a hyphen from the symbols of the process as shown in the example below.

Example 42 the Process «friction welding» refers to: GOST R ISO 4063−42.

2.2 process variations

2.2.1 General situation of

The process variations is determined depending on the type of electrode metal transfer and the number of used electrodes.

2.2.2 Types of metal transfer

For welding processes in which there are various types of electrode metal transfer, type of transfer in the full designation process indicate a symbol in accordance with table 1, as shown in the following example.

Example — arc welding solid wire in inert gas metal transfer with short circuits is denoted by: GOST R ISO 4063−131-D.

Table 1 — Types of metal transfer

D

G

S

R

2.2.3 the Number of electrodes

When more than one electrode the number of electrodes in the designation process indicate additional digit 1; 2, etc., as shown in the following example.

Example — two arc welding solid wire and inert gas is indicated by: GOST R ISO 4063−131−2.

2.2.4 Additional items

With the use of additional filler material in the form of wire (cold or hot) to the symbol give the symbol in accordance with table 2 as shown in the following example.

Example — arc welding submerged arc solid wire with an additional cold wire marked: GOST R ISO 4063−121-S.

Table 2 — Additional elements

2.3 Hybrid welding processes

When using one welding zone at the same time more than one welding process last referred to as a sum of symbols each process, as shown in the following example.

An example of a Hybrid process with the joint use of laser welding and plasma welding is indicated: GOST R ISO 4063−522 + 15.

3 List and the symbols of the processes
