B. 4 preparing the measurement

V. 4.1 After the heat treatment the samples with a polymer coating needs to cool to the temperature of the air of the work space.

V. 4.2 magnetic induction method for measuring the thickness of a polymer coating applied only to products with a smooth and flat substrate, an organic coating can be structured.

V. 4.3 magnetic induction method does not destroy the coating when measuring the thickness of polymer coating on metal substrates of cold rolled steel. In this case there is no possibility of an electric probe to measure simultaneously metallic and organic coatings. First, measure the thickness of metallic and polymer coatings. After removal of the paint layer the thickness of the metal coating should be measured at the same location. The difference between the total thickness and the thickness of the metallic coating equal to the thickness of the polymer coating. The organic coating is removed using an appropriate solvent. After a certain time of contact with the solvent softened the coating is removed by using abrasive and (or) blunt knife. Abrasive blasting should not affect the metal coating.

V. 5 the Order of execution of measurements

V. 5.1 instrument setup

The device is set up in accordance with documentation (Technical description, user Manual, etc.). When setting the instrument to zero using a plate of metal without the polymer coating, which has the same shape, thickness, magnetic properties, as controlled samples. It should have a smooth flat surface without dirt and scratches.

When configuring a device use the measure thickness. Choose a scale with a maximum value greater than the calculated coating thickness and a minimum value lower than the calculated coating thickness.

V. 5.2 performance measurement

Place the probe on the sample with a polymer coating. Conduct at least three measurements of coating thickness on smooth surfaces and at least five measurements on structured surfaces.

B. 6 Processing of measurement results

The measurement results take the arithmetic mean of parallel definitions of the thickness of the polymer coating.

V. 7 the Results of measurements are recorded with accuracy to tenths, the final result is the determination of the thickness of the polymer coating are rounded to the nearest whole number.

V. 8 the Accuracy of this method is determined by the accuracy of the measuring device.

5.3 Incisions and coating removal is carried out manually.

5.4 Place the test sample on a solid, level surface to prevent the deformation of the sample during the test.

5.5 Execute parallel cuts with cutting tools. Then perform parallel cuts perpendicular to the original incisions so as to form a lattice. The cutting tool must be held perpendicular to the sample surface, the movement should be uniform. All cuts must walk up to the base of the sample (metal, galvanized coating).

For soft surfaces carefully clean the surface with a brush.

For hard surfaces use sticky tape, length 75 mm, which is placed on the grate in a direction parallel to one row of cuts.

Firmly press the tape to the bars, leaving one end of the strips are not pasted. Then sharp movement off the tape at an acute angle to the surface of the sample.

For rental with plastisole coating make two cuts in mutually perpendicular directions. The size of the square should be 5 mm. After extruding spherical holes with depth of 6 mm at the site of incision should be no exfoliation of the film (plastisol). For extruding spherical dimples use a device of the type IA 5073 or any other with similar technical and metrological characteristics.
