Application
Hammer dies of steam and pneumatic hammers with weight of falling parts over 3 tons, press dies and machine-speed stamping dies for hot deformation of light non-ferrous alloys, matrix blocks for inserts of horizontal forging machines.

Technological properties of 5CrNiM steel

Forging temperature
The beginning 1240, the end 750. Sections up to 100 mm are cooled in the air, 101−350 mm — in the pit.
Weldability
Not applicable for welded constructions.
Machinability
In the annealed condition at HB 286 and σB = 900 MPa Kυ of dv.spl. = 0.6, Kυ b.st. = 0.3.
